Pools

This photographed series, “Pools” is one meant to celebrate the nature of bodies of water, and show them in different settings and environments. The series consists of five warm-toned darkroom prints enlarged from 4x5 film negatives photographed throughout different bodies of water surrounding areas of both Alabama and Tennessee. To truly reflect on the quality of water, the photographs were created by use of 4x5 film camera with the aperture set to f64, showing every detail of each image with the highest depth of field possible. It is important for each image to contain the maximum depth of field as way to truly show each body of water in its full environment. With this amount of depth, the images are also taken at lower shutter speeds, between 1 second to 4 second long exposures to capture the fluidity of water over time. The longer exposure creates a ripple effect in the images containing less motion in water, while creating a seemingly solid unit of water streaming together in images containing more water movement.
